4 slices Bread (nice thick slices cut from a loaf are best)
Maple Syrup
In a large dish with a flat bottom (one that will easily hold a slice of bread), whisk together the eggs and milk.
Melt a tablespoon of butter in a frying pan. While the butter is melting, place a slice of bread into the egg mixture, turning it after a minute or so to make sure both sides have absorbed some of the egg.
When the butter is foaming, place the slice of eggy bread in the frying pan. Leave it to cook, without turning, until the first side is golden brown then flip over and cook the second side until it is also golden brown.
Remove it to a plate and keep it warm in a warming drawer or in the oven until the remaining slices are cooked and ready.
Continue cooking the remaining slices in the same way. You may need to add a little more butter after each slice.
Serve with maple syrup and/or fruit and icing sugar.
